Manchester City v/s Leeds United
Manchester City ends the month with a visit to Leeds United. Leeds are often known for their quick counter-attacking football. They were well-marshalled by Marcel Bielsa before going through a tough run of fixtures that led to the club appointing a new manager. Since then, they have been slowly recouping and finding their form.
When City played Leeds the last time, they were completely outplayed by a City side brimming with confidence. City put seven past Leeds United with some of the most clinical finishes of the season.
City scored early in that game with Foden. The talented mid-fielder stroked the ball past Leeds United’s keeper after he had made an initial save from Rodri. City quickly doubled their lead with star summer signing Jack Grealish. Mahrez cast one of his signature crosses into the box. Grealish rose high before guiding the ball into the net.
The third goal didn’t take long as City were in cruise control. Kevin De Bruyne was on target after latching onto a through ball from Rodri. City scored the fourth after the stroke of half-time. Mahrez got on the score sheet with a side-footed effort from inside the box. The ball took a slight deflection before making its way past the goalkeeper.
The fifth goal was the best of the lot. Kevin De Bruyne let fly a wondrous strike from well outside Leeds’ box. Kevin De Bruyne took a touch and rifled the ball in the top corner. It was one of his best strikes of the campaign.
Stones scored the game’s sixth goal after being denied twice by the Leeds keeper before the ultimate shot. City rounded off the scoring with Ake, who scored on his return to the lineup from a corner. Foden delivered an out-swinging corner. Ake rose the highest and headed the ball into the corner.
Leeds would certainly be looking to ensure that they can get a better outcome from their next game. On the other hand, City would be hoping to recreate the amazing display from December. On the whole, this fixture is balanced well to provide spectators with entertaining football.
